<br />
Thank you to one of my Anonymous readers who posted a comment about the Maxi Kitchen Appliances ThermoFoodPro Super Chef. I did a bit of research this morning and it is exactly the same product as the Bellini Intelli KM. <br />
<br />
Keep reading ....<br />

<br />
I have to say I'm VERY impressed with their website and they way they promote the machine (check it out <a href="http://www.maxika.com.au/" target="_blank">here</a>). The website is clear, well written and very appealing to the eye. It features video tutorials for recipes including mincing meat, pizza dough, and pestos (just to name a few).<br />
<br />
If you are looking for the awesome recipe book, you can get it here: <a href="http://www.maxika.com.au/sites/default/files/pdfs/SuperchefRecipeBook.pdf" target="_blank">http://www.maxika.com.au/sites/default/files/pdfs/SuperchefRecipeBook.pdf</a><br />

<br />
I'm sorry for the absence of late, I kinda got a bit disinterested with the IM when it started to burn the bottom of the pan.<br />
<br />
I have heard that the new IMs are out now in Target, so I emailed Bellini and they are sending me a replacement free of charge. They told me they are currently working through the list of people who have requested a replacement and will be sending them out in the next few weeks. (personally I hope they update the recipe book too, it's a bit so-so and boring!).<br />
<br />
If you haven't done so, email them here: admin@gsmsales.com.au :)<br />
<br />
I promise to post an update when I get my new IM in a week or so.<br />
<br />
In the meantime I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new machine, so make sure you comment below!<br />

<br />
I've had a few people contact me (thank you for all your comments and feedback) to let me know that Bellini are offering a replacement KM to all customers direct through Target or directly with them.<br />
<br />
I emailed Bellini earlier in the week and advised them of the burning base and as some of you have mentioned, they are working on fixing the issue and are offering replacements to all who have purchased when the upgraded version comes out. I gave them my name and address and they said they will ship a new one to me as soon as they receive them and they said I can keep my machine in the meantime until the new one arrives. I'm not exactly sure how long this is going to take - but when I find out I will update this post to let everyone know.....<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
Here is Bellini's contact email address if you wish to email them (they have been pretty quick to reply to me) admin@gsmsales.com.au.<br />
<br />
Generally I have been reasonably happy with the KM - making dips, sorbets, crushing ice, milling sugar and flour, chopping veg and risotto - but obviously am a bit disappointed with the burning base. Hopefully the upgraded product will be much better.... I am willing to give it another try!<br />
<br />
Any feedback is always great - and I thank all my followers for their comments!<br />

<a name='more'></a><br />
I put in the jug a dash of olive oil and the beef mince (about 450gms), put in the butterfly and set speed to 3 and temperature to 80d for about 4 minutes.... I put it on and stayed close by to watch it (I wasn't feeling that confident!)... After about 2 minutes I took the lid off and decided to have a look - and I noticed that the mince wasn't browning very well, but was starting to burn on the bottom (surprise, surprise!). I put the lid on and gave it another few minutes... still not happy I decided to give up and cook my mince on the stove like normal.<br />
<br />
Here are some photos of my efforts...<br />

I make this recipe all the time, it is a staple in my household. It is popular at BBQs, family gatherings, picnics, breakfast or dinner! Serve it hot or cold... personally I love it best the next day, slightly warmed in the microwave to take the chill off it (from being in the fridge). <br />
<br />
I had some zucchini's to use up and decided i'd give it a try in the Intelli Kitchen Master and I'm happy to report it tasted just the same as how I would normally do it, but it cuts down the prep time by a 3rd!<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Again, I haven't weighed the ingredients, and generally you can't go wrong with a zucchini slice as long as you stick with the basics below....<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">2 Large Zucchinis, cut into thirds</div><div style="text-align: center;">5 spring onions, remove the roots, cut off the tops then cut into thirds</div><div style="text-align: center;">1/2 a medium green capsicum, chopped in half</div><div style="text-align: center;">100g ham, chopped or bacon pieces (optional)</div><div style="text-align: center;">1 small tin of corn, drained</div><div style="text-align: center;">6 eggs</div><div style="text-align: center;">70gr vegetable oil (this helps keep the slice nice and moist)</div><div style="text-align: center;">1 cup SR flour</div><div style="text-align: center;">1/2 tsp salt</div><div style="text-align: center;">Good dash of black pepper</div><div style="text-align: center;">Grated cheese to top</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhddb00ORKNzXdbe6JW984MVuhmyYLp3wTqeT38rYx7h3GflUyapT3e15ftBXbiTPjagwkFTCt0g9WIiJjKoRybBrAknrKBVM2Ym2xWpvvoWfspzDJE7wma1hr65F5JX9emCfAEEHcaWtfb/s1600/IMG_2372.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhddb00ORKNzXdbe6JW984MVuhmyYLp3wTqeT38rYx7h3GflUyapT3e15ftBXbiTPjagwkFTCt0g9WIiJjKoRybBrAknrKBVM2Ym2xWpvvoWfspzDJE7wma1hr65F5JX9emCfAEEHcaWtfb/s320/IMG_2372.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Preheat oven to 200 degrees</div><div style="text-align: center;">Place the zucchini, capsicum and spring onions in the bowl</div><div style="text-align: center;">Process on speed 5 for 5-10 seconds until chopped, but make sure you do not over chop, it's okay if it is still chunky</div><div style="text-align: center;">Remove zucchini mix from bowl and set aside in large bowl, add the corn, (ham if using) and black pepper</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Do not rince the bowl, add the eggs and oil and pulse 4 times</div><div style="text-align: center;">Add the butterfly, add the flour and salt; place on speed 3 for 7 seconds until combined</div><div style="text-align: center;">Pour the egg mixture in to the zucchini mixture and combine</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Today i'm posting my favourite recipe to date! I had this made for me at a Thermomix demo and I absolutely can't get enough of this salad! If you have never eaten raw beetroot - I highly recommend you give this recipe a try.....so fresh, tangy and healthy. Give it a go... super easy!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I didn't really follow the TM recipe exactly (I didn't weigh anything) and you don't need to either. As long as you have all of the ingredients listed, you can add as much or a little as you like - depending on your taste. So here's what I did:</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
1 Bunch of fresh baby beets, peeled and halved (my bunch had about 6-8)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1 granny smith apple, seeded and quartered (skin on)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1/2 medium red onion, halved</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">1 large carrot, peeled and cut into thirds</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Handfull of Corriander (leaves and stems) (add to your preferred taste)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Juice of 1 lemon</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Pinch of Salt</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Dash of olive oil (about 3 tablespoons)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Put all ingredients in the Bellini bowl, except for the corriander. When I went to a Thermomix demo, they lady cooked risotto, and to me it was a bit bland a bit watery... so I hoped this recipe would be a bit better and I decided to use a little less stock and substitute some of the stock for white wine.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><b>Recipe (adapted from the cookbook):</b></div><div style="text-align: center;"> 2 onions, finely chopped</div><div style="text-align: center;">10 small mushrooms, roughly chopped (use swiss brown over button for more flavour)</div><div style="text-align: center;">350g arborio rice</div><div style="text-align: center;">30ml olive oil</div><div style="text-align: center;">100ml white wine </div><div style="text-align: center;">500ml chicken stock</div><div style="text-align: center;">3 shortcuts of bacon, chopped into 3cm pieces</div><div style="text-align: center;">5 stems of asparagus, chopped into inch pieces</div><div style="text-align: center;">Salt and pepper (be generous)</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Add the butterfly to the bowl.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Place and onion and half the mushrooms into the bowl with the olive oil and put on temp 80 for 6 minutes, on speed 2. </div><div style="text-align: center;">5 minutes before the rice is ready, add the rest of the chopped mushrooms, the bacon (don't forget to add the yummy bacon juices which will help give the risotto flavour) and asparagus through the feeder hole on the top of the lid (if you put this in too early, it will most likely break up). At this point season your risotto generously with salt and pepper.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Good morning, who wishes they were still in bed? (I sure do!)<br />
<br />
After quite a busy weekend I made some time on Saturday to try out the Risotto from page 24 of the cookbook. Whilst browsing on the Thermomix community website I came across a Tomato and Feta dip decided to give it a go!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
Here's how the dip went.... you can find the <a href="http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/tomato-and-feta-chunky-dip/34891" target="_blank">recipe here</a>...... I added Basil instead of parsley; put all the ingredients into the bowl and whizzed together on speed 5 for about 10 seconds until the dip was combined, I then scraped down the sides and whizzed again for about 5 seconds to bring it all together.<br />
<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Onto Part 2 of my road test... After a bit of a disappointing start with the potato, we decided to make a strawberry and chocolate smoothy for dessert (super easy!)</div><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">So I started with about 2 cups of ice, placed it into the bowl then blitzed on the highest speed (10) (very noisy) for about 10-15 seconds, until the ice looked nice and crushed. I then added a handful of hulled strawberries and put on speed 5 for 5 seconds. I took the lid off and had a look (see below). I then added a good squirt of Cotties chocolate topping and 500ml of milk. Put the lid back on and blitzed on speed 4 for 10 seconds. Poured it into 2 glasses and we had it as our dessert! It tasted good!!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

So after giving the parts a quick wash in some mild soapy water, we were ready to start the potatoes. I googled a recipe for Thermomix and found this youtube clip which I found helpful <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qV0TMDB4j8">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9qV0TMDB4j8</a>. BTW there is NOT a recipe for mash potato in the recipe book provided with the Bellini mixer!<br />
<br />
I used the theory from the Youtube clip: <b><u>weight of potatoes divided by 2, minus 10% = Mills of milk to use</u></b>.....it was just OKAY and it made a creamy mash (think KFC tubs of potato and gravy)! BUT I think next time I will use less milk. I also found that because I used really waxy potatoes it wasn't the light and fluffy texture I'd hoped for (see photos below)... next time I'll try some floury potatoes instead. Remember you can ALWAYS add more milk when you are blending the potatoes after they are cooked (so best not to add to much milk at the beginning)!<br />
<br />
So next time I'm going to try this: Weight of potatoes x 20% = Milk needed (so what I'm really saying is milk should equal 20% of the total weight of the potatoes. EG. <b><u><i>500g potatoes x 20% = 100mls of milk</i></u></b><br />
<br />
<u>PLEASE </u>remember that I am only still learning so please try out my theories and give me feedback - I will update my potato recipe as I perfect it! :)<br />
<br />
So after preparing the potatoes and milk, I attached the butterfly to the blades and added the potatoes, milk and a good pinch of salt. I set the dial to 18 mins on 130 degrees, speed 2, put on the lid and pressed start.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLxQqCnvashOkRO8_YYWYXjC8GxQvJZ9VDxPIyfBqKYlhlsjBPrQdujj1vjZSNyMNNmTZQVtwBhEL76-5q56nFb9y1ErT9IxVOLgQeOSLr57gimJirJ3URuFW6WLDyY4FGYFF_gqwSa6S/s1600/IMG_2279.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPLxQqCnvashOkRO8_YYWYXjC8GxQvJZ9VDxPIyfBqKYlhlsjBPrQdujj1vjZSNyMNNmTZQVtwBhEL76-5q56nFb9y1ErT9IxVOLgQeOSLr57gimJirJ3URuFW6WLDyY4FGYFF_gqwSa6S/s320/IMG_2279.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />
I decided to check how it was all going and at around 8 minutes I pressed the start/stop button to pause the machine and I opened the lid. At this stage, something told me (kitchen intuition?) that I had set the temperature too hot, so I turned it down to about 80d and continued on for another 8 minutes. After this time, I removed the butterfly and proceeded to whiz it for about 5 seconds on speed 4... and voila!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO2jG1aRgz13Q6C8MzHmcwDidzzIF5w8dIv1pDOhYkaPy5TuRnxRxQtJUnotswJEyFFtk9EwOtiu-2uDspvtDCbmvclIoPpqxUVr3ShdNIEfbeA3cwIDYjPXDrXgRxVsdBCqqDq2O3uYaJ/s1600/IMG_2280.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiO2jG1aRgz13Q6C8MzHmcwDidzzIF5w8dIv1pDOhYkaPy5TuRnxRxQtJUnotswJEyFFtk9EwOtiu-2uDspvtDCbmvclIoPpqxUVr3ShdNIEfbeA3cwIDYjPXDrXgRxVsdBCqqDq2O3uYaJ/s320/IMG_2280.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br />

HOWEVER......... I was HORRIFED to notice that when Mr D was pouring out the potato that I had burnt the potato to the bottom of the bowl :( :( :( see, I knew I had the temperature up too high! Never the less, the potato still tasted good! <br />
<br />
SO, next time, I will set the temperature to 80d. Surprisingly the bowl cleaned up to new, after a bit of a soak and a light scrub (thank god! I thought I'd ruined it!)<br />

<br />
So I received my Target catalogue in my inbox earlier this week and I was surprised to see what looked like a Thermomix knock off! Considering I'm in love with Thermomix and have always wanted one, but sadly can't afford it at this stage, I decided to look further into it....<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
I went to the Bellini website (<a href="http://www.belliniappliances.com.au/">http://www.belliniappliances.com.au/</a>) and had a look around... I couldn't see much info on the Intelli Kitchen Master so I decided to email the manufacturer and ask for an electronic copy of the instruction manual. I promptly received a reply from Bellini with the attached PDF document. I was impressed with the professional looking document and the content was good (but not as thorough as the Thermomix). I then asked them to email me a copy of the recipe book... Now.. I had search the internet and found some pretty bad reviews about the Bellini cookbook and how it was a blatant knock off of the TM recipes... So I was surprised when the recipe book I received was not like this at all (I'm guessing they updated it and did it correctly). Yes the cookbook isn't that amazing and it could be improved, and also to me it seems kind of 'Americanized', but if you are a bit saavy you can search for TM recipes on the various websites and forums and adapt accordingly.<br />
<br />
So I made the decision to buy one... with a 12 month warranty offered as standard by Target; if it breaks or stops working, I can just take it back for a refund/replacement... So I guess for $269, it's worth giving it a shot, right!? <br />
<br />
I know it's no Thermomix and I'm not expecting it to be! I'm going to give mine a whirl tonight and over the weekend and will post some reviews, recipes and my thoughts on the product.<br />
<br />
Please feel free to leave me a comment or send me an email if you have also bought the product and want to share thoughts/recipes.<br />

</div>Well it has been a big start to 2012 for me! After moving in to a new home (with a backyard!) we are finally settled and enjoying the responsibilities of having our own home to love and take care of. Apart from the mad rush that is the new year with summer celebrations, parties and get togethers, we are now just taking the time to complete all the little things we have set out to accomplish in 2012.<br />
<a name='more'></a>So firstly on my list is to build our own veggie garden! Last week Mr D did the labour intensive job of digging out grass, creating edging and back filling with organic soil whilst I was off at work doing my thing (what a jem he is!). We purchased our organic soil from Daisy's at Carrum Downs, a landscaping and gardening business that specialises in soils, rocks and mulch. We purchase a half cubic meter for only $24! MUCH cheaper than buying it by the bag from the local hardware store. Our veggie patch is approximately 8 meters long, by about 600mm deep, with a 1 meter squared bit at the end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Unfortunately I forgot to take any 'before' photos, but here are some finished shots. Where the beds are now located, is where grass used to be.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirltaPPiJ70FrSHqfFPmhb0X7zPEwpRFQ1IuxBpZOHfYYToYwlGFnVkGuLPscNXUVCFUHAKCEwicsorPWUXHEWerE9k1NbjGYdhlTjc_O_AHyg4o5YOLo8_RCYSuvB0qW2OpslACAT7_07/s1600/Vegie+Garden+2-1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirltaPPiJ70FrSHqfFPmhb0X7zPEwpRFQ1IuxBpZOHfYYToYwlGFnVkGuLPscNXUVCFUHAKCEwicsorPWUXHEWerE9k1NbjGYdhlTjc_O_AHyg4o5YOLo8_RCYSuvB0qW2OpslACAT7_07/s320/Vegie+Garden+2-1.JPG" width="238" /></a> </div><br />
<br />
I went to the Dandenong markets with a girlfriend on Saturday and found a few stalls who were selling seedlings at a very reasonable price... I picked up Broccoli, Cauliflour, Leeks and Beets for $2.50 each. I also bought some Carrot and Chard seedlings... So my job for this weekend is planting the seedlings and seeds! <br />
<br />
Being a novice at growing vegetables, I found this book to be extremely helpful and I'm so glad I purchased it. I highly recommend any first time gardener, it gives you all the information you'll ever need from preparing soils, planting, companion planting, pest control, harvesting, saving seeds and even gives you lists of vegetables/herbs/fruit and details of when to plant!<br />
<br />

<br />
I recently ordered this book online through this fabulous and very competitive book store.... <a href="http://www.fishpond.com.au/">www.fishpond.com.au</a>. Their prices are the lowest by far of any of the online book stores, beating The Nile, Angus and Robertson, The Book Depository etc etc. They also offer free postage for all orders! My book took about 10 days to arrive.<br />
<br />
When my book arrived I was in crafty heaven! I read Kelly's blog regularly (see it <a href="http://www.thecraftyminx.com.au/">here)</a> and couldn't wait to get my hands on this creative book. With ideas for sewing new projects such as satchels, baby slings, zippered purses, beach bags and a kids tea-pee (to name a few), she also includes fabulous recycled ideas such as using old woolen jumpers and turning them into sewn blankets and scarves, hot water bottle covers, socks and mittens. There are also crafty ideas things such as kids projects, broaches and wrapping paper.<br />
<br />
The instructions at times can be a little hard to get my head around (I'm more of a tutorial girl, rather than written instructions), but once I'd read each design step by step (a few times), I could understand what I needed to do.<br />
<br />
She also includes information on the basics of sewing including a glossary and terms.<br />
<br />
This book is well worth the money and I highly recommend it!<br />

<br />
I thought this market (<a href="http://thehandmadeshow.blogspot.com/">The Handmade Show</a>) was interesting and wondered if anyone had exhibited at it before? <br />

<br />
It certainly has been a long time since I've been on here :( whoops, I guess sometimes life keeps you from doing the things you love!<br />
<br />
On some good news, it was my birthday a few weeks ago and guess what I got for a present?? YES a sewing machine! I'm sew excited (get it!? hehe), I've been trying to sew every few days and have been brushing up on my skills as it's been years since I've even looked at a sewing machine.<br />
<br />
I was lucky enough to receive a Singer 1507, looks like this: It's a basic model, but it has about 15 stitches and 4 step button hole, very simple and easy to use.<br />
<br />
I'm embarking on a few new sewing projects so I'll post them up here as I go. Please don't forget to comment.<br />
<br />
Until next time...<br />

Please bear with me as i'm quite new at this - sure i'm a wizz at Facebook and the likes, but blogging is a new conquest for me.<br />
<br />
So as you all know Fathers Day is this Sunday! With my lovely parents residing back in Adelaide I decided to make dad this cute card....<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNh54ezyhT-e-lpa0kxOrw3SwIGgq8NDLuXKpnFj_5_I_o9pjBKCA_QMbVEhBQeqkJ-aglf3uiakVYmog8mMNkczKxrwTNuxFk3g7yOck3OO9p2a7C-VL-jlCY2mpDnwtmMc6vUZ74gWW3/s1600/Tshirt+Card.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" ox="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNh54ezyhT-e-lpa0kxOrw3SwIGgq8NDLuXKpnFj_5_I_o9pjBKCA_QMbVEhBQeqkJ-aglf3uiakVYmog8mMNkczKxrwTNuxFk3g7yOck3OO9p2a7C-VL-jlCY2mpDnwtmMc6vUZ74gWW3/s640/Tshirt+Card.JPG" width="476" /></a></div><br />
Here are some VERY simple and easy step-by-step instructions to make this <a href="http://www.origami-resource-center.com/origami-shirt.html">Origami Card</a>:<br />
<br />
I purchased some thin card from Spotlight, and some contrasting card for the Tie and Pocket. I also used some scrap blue paper for the buttons.<br />
<br />
For the tie - I just drew the shape, then cut it out and stuck it on with a bit of double sided tape. For those of you adventurous types out there, you can try this <a href="http://www.freekidscrafts.com/origami_tie-e365.html">Origami Tie</a>.<br />
<br />
Good luck!<br />
